"Shutter Island" a psychological thriller directed by Martin Scorsese an unusual way to this director, but still a masterpeace came from this really good author.
Duck Sauce is a collaboration between Armand Van Helden and A-Trak. They decided to team up and create some disco house tunes in a 2009 way and so far so good. Gil Scott-Heron has been off the music radar for about 13 years. That’s a pretty long hiatus for the man who has been called “the godfather of rap” and “the black Bob Dylan.” But he is back. His newest release is not like the rest of Scott-Heron’s music, in that it’s main focus isn’t politics, but rather the singer/poet/author himself. I’m New Here is an introspective piece that expresses Gil’s current state of mind as well as what brought him to where he is. The album is a mix of songs, spoken word recordings, and interludes of Gil speaking. Me and the Devil is a cover of a Bobby “Blue” Bland song. The song has a simple bluesy background beat that allows for Gil’s soulful voice to take center stage.
Goldfrapp is a London based duo of Alison Goldfrapp and Will Gregory. For their new album, Head First, due out late March, they collaborated with producer Richard X to create a song called “Alive”. However, it seems that Richard X couldn’t get enough of Goldfrapp’s new album and released 3 remixes on Goldfrapp’s recent single “Rocket”. The original track sounds a little bit like 80’s pop music, but the One Zero Remix takes the song to a full blown 80’s spacey, out-of-this-world, retro level. The song is a little long, coming in a 7 minutes, but with it’s build-up, break down, and final crescendo, it is well worth your time. Enjoy
There aren’t many artists out there that have had a career as colorful as that of John Legend. The six times grammy winning R&B-soul phenom has definitely come a long way since his first appearance in the music world when he was hired to play piano for Lauren Hill’s “Everything Is Everything” on her album The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill. This remix of his song ‘Everybody Knows’ by RAC (Remix Artist Collective) speaks for itself much like Legends incredible instrumental and lyrical abilities. His capacity to express with such fluency is amazing and it’s to no surprise he has been so successful considering his mass appeal.
