Erykah Badu’s sixth album New Amerykah Part Two (Return of the Ankh) was released yesterday and one of the instant stand outs is the message laden and immediately controversial “Window Seat.” The song in it’s self is smooth, easy, soulful, and insightful. The majority of the controversy stems from the accompanying music video. The music video was “shot guerrilla style” in one take and captures her walking along a Dallas, Texas, sidewalk stripping off her clothes until she is eventually naked. Suddenly a shot rings out as the song ends and Badu falls to the ground close to the site where John F. Kennedy was assassinated.
The track “Move For Me” is a collaboration between Kaskade and Toronto native Deadmua5 (Joel Thomas Zimmerman ), two of the most illuminating names in house music. I think it perfectly reflects the potential that house music has to not only move you physically but also on an emotional level with it’s climactic progressions and infectious vocals. The production is top notch and in the right mood and surrounding the potency is infinite.

"EXIT THROUGH THE GIFT SHOP" // BANKSY
“Exit Through The Gift Shop”, the film is billed as “the world’s first street art disaster movie”, and described by organizers as “…an amazing ride, a cautionary modern fairy tale . . . with bolt cutters.”. This will be the first time the elusive artist, will appear on film. (his publicists have stated however that his identity will not be revealed and only his voice will be heard.)

VITALIC // PONEY PART 1
In a time where dance music appears to have stumbled across a barren wasteland artists like Vitalic stand out like a glistening beacon of light: an incendiary guiding force away from the commercially un-listenable pap. The Frenchman uses purely synthesized instruments and states himself that “the only thing he can’t fake is the emotion that galvanizes his music”. He succeeds at making listeners smile, shake their stuff, and still walk away a little shaken by the music’s intensity.

"THE REVOLUTION WILL NOT BE TELEVISED"
American poet, musician and dignified revolutionary: Gil Scott-Heron releases a new single along with a visual entitled, Me and The Devil. Best known for his lyrical content addressing a variety of social and political issues during his time, his works have had major influence towards the creation of genres such as Hip Hop and Neo-Soul. His most distinguished piece of work was his 1971 Poem entitled, “The revolution will not be televised” – a pithy quote that originates with this gentleman. His upcoming album has a tentative release date of February 9th.
